A recent joiner, Blair Day grew up in brass bands in small-town Australia before moving to Melbourne and joining Kew Band, playing solo cornet. Blair performed extensively with Kew, an Australian championship section (or ‘A grade’) band, including winning two national championships, numerous State championships and recording several CDs, first under Tom Paulin (former Grimethorpe principal cornet) and subsequently, Mark Ford. He also toured Japan with Kew, playing together with the Band of the Black Colt and at the Japanese Festival of Bands. Work commitments subsequently took him to the UK where he played briefly with Redbridge Brass Band in London, before relocating once again, this time to continental Europe. Now in the US, he brings experience and strength to Rockville’s back row cornet section.
